This Sunday, families, neighbors, and advocates of the Elysian Valley area will host a public vigil to honor the life of Christian Vega, a 17 year-old senior at Sotomayor High School who died after being struck by a driver on Riverside Drive last month.

On February 27, 17-year old Christina Vega was struck and killed by a woman driving a 2012 Toyota Camry while in a crosswalk at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Newell Street.

Traffic deaths and injuries are sudden, violent, and traumatic events. Their impacts are long-lasting and permanent. What's more, traffic fatalities and serious injuries are preventable.
